Technicolor did not appear ex nihilo in 1935 on the film of Becky Sharp, the first live-action feature film to use the famous process. The appearance of natural colour in the cinema was the fruit of an incredible series of experiments! Our new interactive Workshop offers you a trip back to this scientific and artistic era. To create colours, the Workshop challenges to combine light beams, play with filters or subtly adjust a projector. Try your hand at subtractive synthesis and learn about the principle of emulsion! Europa Film Treasures' documentation will be there, of course, to guide you!

 

The documentary to be won, Movies Dream in Colour, retraces the different stages in the advent of colour motion pictures. It will enable you to deepen, through the use of images, your knowledge of this great technical revolution.
